Electrical
- Assist with the inspection, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
- Support fault‑finding activities on motors, control panels, drives and distribution systems.
- Assist with electrical installations and modifications.
- Learn to interpret electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Support testing and inspection activities in accordance with relevant regulations.
Instrumentation
- Assist with the maintenance and calibration of instruments and control devices.
- Learn how to diagnose faults on sensors, transmitters, control valves and measurement equipment.
- Support the maintenance of process control systems and associated instrumentation.
- Assist with recording calibration and maintenance activities.
Mechanical
- Assist with preventative and reactive maintenance on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, valves, steam systems and associated equipment.
- Support equipment inspections and condition monitoring activities.
- Learn safe dismantling, repair and reassembly techniques.
- Assist with mechanical installations and modifications.
General Responsibilities
- Complete all apprenticeship training requirements and coursework.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Follow planned preventative maintenance schedules.
- Work safely in accordance with company procedures and legislation.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Support engineering projects as required.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within workshops and plant areas.
- Attend toolbox talks, safety briefings and training sessions.
Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities
- Comply with all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Work in accordance with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Follow Permit to Work systems and isolation procedures.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report hazards, incidents and near misses promptly.
- Support environmental and sustainability initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including:
- Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above)
- English (Grade 4/C or above)
- Science or Engineering‑related subject (Grade 4/C or above)
Desirable Qualifications
- A‑Level, BTEC or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Science or Technology.
- Previous engineering, maintenance or practical workshop experience.
