We are very excited to advertise a Healthcare assistant/Therapy assistant post for the South Lakes Rapid Response and Virtual Ward Team. This post is a fantastic opportunity for an individual ready to develop and build on their existing skill set within the healthcare sector. Our service supports the 2‑hour community response mandate across the South Lakes locality. South Lakes Rapid Response is a short‑term service which offers a range of interventions to manage medical crises, prevent hospital admission, and provide a safe, community‑based alternative to hospital care. We also facilitate safe and timely discharge from hospital and provide rehabilitation to aid recovery towards independence.
Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare/therapy assistant within the team you will work closely under the guidance of a multi‑professional team of medics, consultant practitioners, advanced clinical practitioners, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, assistant practitioners and other therapy assistants. You will support the implementation of a range of delegated interventions across nursing and therapy, and aid the care and activities of daily living. Specific duties include venepuncture (blood sampling), taking clinical observations, fitting equipment and supporting the administration of medications. Your work will be essential and hugely rewarding as you help our frail population remain in their own homes with care support and therapy programmes.
Person specification
Education and Qualifications
- Level 3 Care Certificate or equivalent experience/training, or willingness and ability to complete the Level 3 Care Certificate within 3 months of starting the post
- European computer driving licence or an equivalent IT qualification (ability to use a range of information technology/computer applications)
Experience
- Experience working in a team
- Experience providing care to adults
- Experience using Microsoft Office and other IT applications
- Experience working as a health care or therapy assistant
- Experience working with people who have dementia
- Experience working with people who are unwell
- Experience working within a community health or social care service
- Experience working with vulnerable people
