Role Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Director of Anti‑Financial Crime (AFC) Engineering to lead and evolve our financial crime technology capability during a period of significant transformation and organisational maturity. In addition to overseeing major platform implementations (including a new third‑party KYC/CDD SaaS solution, fraud, ABC, tax evasion monitoring and case management), the role will transition the AFC technology estate from a programme‑driven delivery model to a product‑led operating model, underpinned by Agile and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership & strategy to AFC engineering teams, setting technical and operational direction aligned with business and regulatory priorities.
  • Own the maturation of the AFC engineering function, embedding a product‑centric mindset, clear accountability, and sustainable delivery practices.
  • Develop long‑term technology strategy for Financial Crime platforms, balancing regulatory change, innovation, and operational resilience.
  • Oversee delivery of the Financial Crime transformation programme, including implementation of a 3rd‑party KYC/CDD SaaS platform, fraud, ABC, and tax evasion monitoring capabilities, modernised case management and investigative workflows.
  • Support and guide the transition from time‑bound change programmes to a perpetual product model, with persistent teams, clear product ownership, and outcome‑based roadmaps.
  • Embed Agile delivery and DevOps practices appropriate for a regulated environment, strengthening continuous delivery and improvement, production ownership and support models, automation, quality, and release discipline.
  • Ensure platforms are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with enterprise architecture and technology risk standards; drive adoption of DevOps principles across AFC engineering including CI/CD, environments, monitoring, incident management, and integration across data platforms, core systems, and third‑party vendors.
  • Partner with enterprise engineering teams and other stakeholders (Operations, Investigations, Compliance, Financial Crime Risk, Internal Audit, Technology governance, Governance & Risk) to align delivery, funding, operating model changes and ensure effective governance.
  • Own engineering governance for AFC platforms, including delivery assurance, technology risk management, and vendor oversight; act as senior technology representative in audits, regulatory inspections, and internal risk reviews.

Qualifications

  • Senior leadership experience (Director or equivalent) leading financial crime or compliance technology engineering in large financial services organisations.
  • Proven experience delivering AFC transformation initiatives and evolving operating models toward product‑led delivery.
  • Practical, senior‑level understanding of Agile and DevOps or equivalent experience in regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of global financial crime regulatory requirements (AML, KYC/CDD, fraud, ABC, tax evasion).
  • Demonstrated success leading growing and maturing engineering teams through change.
  • Ability to balance transformation, regulatory compliance, and live‑service operational stability.
  • Proven expertise in delivering architecture and build for modern, cloud‑native AFC platforms and event‑driven architecture.

Be part of a global Financial Crime transformation programme, work with best‑in‑class vendor platforms and modern engineering stacks, collaborate across a flexible, globally connected culture, and advance your career at a leading global financial markets infrastructure provider.
