Are you an experienced equine professional with a passion for coaching and developing the next generation of riders? Are you passionate about helping learners develop real‑world equine skills?
We are excited to introduce a brand‑new Practical Instructor – Equine role to our curriculum team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key part in shaping practical teaching in our BHS Highly Commended Equine Centre.
As a Practical Instructor, you’ll deliver hands‑on sessions, demonstrate industry standard techniques, support student progress, and help create a professional, engaging learning environment. You’ll work closely with lecturers and our technical team, ensuring learners develop the core practical competencies needed for further study or employment in the equine sector.
About the Role
As our new Practical Instructor, you will:
· Deliver practical husbandry sessions, as well as riding lessons.
· Plan and prepare your sessions to meet curriculum outcomes.
· Demonstrate safe, effective equine handling and husbandry techniques.
· Assess practical competence and provide supportive developmental feedback.
· Track learner progress, set targets and help students reach their potential.
· Prepare materials and resources for practical teaching.
· Work collaboratively with the technical team to ensure sessions run smoothly.
· Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with college procedures.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll need:
· BHS Stage 3 Complete or higher.
· Strong practical skills and experience working with horses.
· Experience delivering or demonstrating practical skills to groups.
· Excellent communication, coaching and organisational skills.
· A commitment to inclusive practice, high standards and continuous professional development.
· Full driving licence and flexibility to support occasional events.
