Based across a brand new, state of the art training facility at Nutts Corner and regional distribution centres throughout the Northern Region, this is a varied and rewarding role that plays a key part in developing and supporting professional drivers.Reporting to the Transport Training Manager, you’ll work closely with the transport management team to deliver high quality driver training and development. Your responsibilities will include conducting driver observations and assessments, delivering driving lessons, supporting the internal B2C programme, promoting driver safety and compliance, identifying performance improvement opportunities, and providing coaching and guidance to drivers. Occasional travel to support national operations may also be required.This is a pivotal position focused on enhancing driver capability, improving safety standards, and supporting the attraction, development, and retention of drivers across the business.Key ResponsibilitiesLiaise with the transport management team to organise driving assessments for new and existing drivers.Support new driver onboarding and induction programmes.Maintain and regularly update the Driver Training Matrix, monitoring training requirements and compliance.Identify training and retraining needs across the driver workforce.Conduct regular driver observations and assessments, providing feedback on:Health & SafetyFood SafetyCustomer ServiceDriving SkillsWork with the management team to investigate incidents and analyse accidents.Deliver post incident and post accident driver coaching and retraining.Develop, update and deliver Toolbox Talks to promote best practice and compliance.Provide ongoing support to the transport management team as required.Complete new and review existing customer site assessments, delivery point assessments and task risk assessments.Carry out any other duties relevant to the role as required.Essential CriteriaCurrent Manual Handling, Train the Trainer, and Driver Assessor qualifications are desirable.Excellent knowledge of transport operations and procedures.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and coach others through presentations and practical demonstrations.Flexible approach to working hours and travel to meet business needs.Adaptable and able to respond positively to change.Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team.Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to schedule training around operational demands.Proactive, enthusiastic, and innovative, with the confidence to introduce new ideas and improvements.Committed to continuous personal and professional development, with a passion for learning.Previous experience in a similar Driver Trainer or Transport Training role is advantageous….
