About the Role

Applications are invited for Associate Lecturers in Initial Teacher Training and Education (ITT/E). Due to the continued growth of our provision, notably primary ITT/E, our Assessment Only route to QTS and our PGCE (non-QTS), we require additional expertise. Applications are particularly welcome from those involved in ITT/E and/or who have teaching/leadership experience in the primary sector. As a member of the Institute of Education and Skills team, you will have teaching and assessment responsibilities and will undertake placement visits. ITT/E staff also work on programmes that cross age-phase specialist areas, as required.

You should have a passion for education and teaching and be able to link theory to practice in the Higher Education environment. You will be able to share your experience of research and teaching in the education sector and will hold a Master of Arts in Education or equivalent. 

Actual hours and days will be described in a 'Schedule of Work'.

Salary range from £16.51 – £41.29 per hour

The lower rate is for non-teaching scheduled work, whereas the higher rate is an enhanced rate for teaching and additional duties/meetings. Your actual hourly rate is £16.51 per hour. The rate of £41.29 includes 1 hour of teaching time and 1.5 hours of prep/marking/admin.

About You

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational education professional who is passionate about developing the next generation of teachers. The successful candidate will hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a master's degree, with current or recent experience of teaching and leading within the primary education sector.

You will bring a strong understanding of the Teachers' Standards and have the expertise to assess trainee teachers while delivering high-quality teaching across Levels 4 to 7 on Initial Teacher Training and professional education programmes. Your extensive knowledge of primary education will enable you to support learners in developing the skills, knowledge, and professional behaviours required for successful teaching careers.

As a confident digital practitioner, you will be proficient in delivering engaging and effective online teaching and learning, making full use of digital technologies to enhance the learner experience. Experience of leading teams and/or designing and delivering continuing professional development (CPD) is essential, alongside the ability to work collaboratively with adult learners across a variety of educational settings.

You will be an exceptional communicator with excellent organisational and time management skills, capable of balancing competing priorities, working across multiple teams, and consistently meeting deadlines. Adaptable and flexible in your approach, you will respond positively to the changing demands of the academic year while maintaining a commitment to high-quality teaching, assessment, and learner support.
