Head of Security, Safety and Systems Control
The Head of Security leads the development and delivery of comprehensive security, safety and systems management across the service line.
The role ensures a safe, secure environment for patients, staff and visitors by overseeing physical, procedural and relational security systems, fire safety, and emergency preparedness. It provides expert advice, delivers specialist training, and leads security risk management, audits and compliance with national standards.
You will manage security reception staff and contractors, drive continuous improvement, and support incident response, contributing to organisational resilience, patient safety and the effective operation of secure services.

Person Specification
- Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g. security management, risk, facilities or public services)
- Demonstrate experience managing security systems (e.g. CCTV, access control, alarms, communication systems)
- Working in a secure, healthcare or similar high-risk environment
- Developing and delivering training programmes (e.g. security procedures, safety training)
- Line management of staff
- Conducting risk assessments, audits or investigations
- Ability to manage incidents and respond effectively under pressure
- Relevant legislation, guidance and standards (e.g. health and safety, fire safety, secure service requirements)
- Strong communication skills, including delivering advice to senior stakeholders
- Policy development and implementation
- Fire safety training and/or experience acting as a responsible person
- Specialist skills (e.g. search training, drug detection, security audits)
