Bank Specialist Podiatrist – Biomechanics (Temporary)Location: Brent or Harrow

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Band 7 Specialist Podiatrist to join our Bank team on a temporary basis, working across Harrow or Brent. This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialist podiatric biomechanics and musculoskeletal (MSK) care within a supportive community service while enjoying the flexibility of bank work.

As the clinical specialist for biomechanics, you will provide expert assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with biomechanical, MSK and neuromuscular conditions across community clinics and local acute hospital sites. You will play a key role in developing evidence-based treatment plans and delivering highly specialised clinical advice to colleagues across multidisciplinary teams.

You will also act as a clinical leader, supporting and educating podiatry colleagues and junior staff in biomechanical assessment, MSK interventions and best practice. In addition, you will provide education and training to other health and social care professionals, as well as patients, promoting the importance of foot function in preventing and managing MSK injury, dysfunction and disease.

This temporary Bank role requires flexibility to work across Harrow or Brent, offering an excellent opportunity to make a real difference while working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

  • To work use your clinical knowledge/skills/influence to guide and educate the podiatry staff within your team and across CLCH Podiatry
  • To motivate administration and clerical personnel to cooperate effectively with the multidisciplinary team assisting them in identifying and helping solve problems in order to provide an efficient service.
  • To review established guidelines and protocols for the identification and treatment of biomechanical disorders and feed into wider MSK projects.
  • To work as part of a team across various sectors of the organisation in order to develop the service in accordance with the users needs by participating in forums and analysing user feedback in order to deliver an appropriate and fitting service

Person specification

Education/Qualification

  • Evidence of continual professional and personal development
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Certificate in local anaesthesia
  • Evidence or Portfolio of Post Grad Continued Development
  • Post graduate courses/ education in Biomechanics / MSK (Cert or Diploma to M level accreditation)
  • Evidence of Study in area of Specialist interest

Experience

  • Experience of working at a band 6 level or above and evidence of working with a high risk caseload, neurology, rheumatology, orthopaedic or sports medicine caseload
  • Experience of multidisciplinary and interagency working
  • Experience of working with a wide range of patient and disease / musculoskeletal pathology types / the at-risk and high-risk foot
  • Experience of working in an NHS environment
  • Experience of clinical supervision / mentoring
  • Experience of service development
  • Evidence of Teaching

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of recent developments in the profession
  • Full knowledge of podiatric theory and practice
  • Knowledge of RCOP code of conduct
  • Awareness of Equal Opportunities – theory and practice
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance -theory and practice
  • Up-to-date knowledge of clinical issues and treatment
  • In depth / extended knowledge in the management of Biomechanical/Musculoskeletal Conditions
  • Knowledge of audit and risk assessment
  • A working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and its implications in care provision
  • Ability to evaluate and analyse patients concerns and needs and propose effective solutions
  • Ability to undertake intricate work in using sensitive diagnostic tools and a range of surgical instruments. e.g in the management and debridement of poor tissue viability wounds and nail surgery
  • Intermediate to Advanced IT Skills including use of Internet, e-mail, Word Packages

  • Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)
