The opportunity

We’re looking for a hands on, tech focused CNC & Paintline Manager to lead the CNC cutting and paintline operations within a woodworking company. You’ll be responsible for safety, quality, delivery and performance whilst driving a culture of continuous improvement and developing a high performing team.

This is a leadership role for someone with a strong CNC manufacturing background, proven people management capability, and a data driven mindset (including using AI to analyse operational data and trends).

What you’ll be doing

  • Set clear expectations and KPIs; run regular 1:1s and team meetings
  • Manage performance, conduct, attendance and absence in line with company policy
  • Recruit, onboard and develop CNC and paintline teams, ensuring competence and compliance from day one
  • Lead problem solving and root cause analysis to eliminate recurring issues
  • Build engagement through communication, recognition and a strong safety culture

Operational management

  • Own daily CNC cutting and paintline schedules to meet Assembly requirements on time and to spec
  • Optimise CNC programs, tooling and paintline parameters to improve output, quality and waste reduction
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and embed 5S / visual management
  • Lead daily SQCDP meetings to set priorities and remove blockers

Health, safety & compliance

  • Promote and enforce safe working practices aligned to UK legislation and company standards
  • Ensure daily pre-use checks are completed for CNC, paintline and associated equipment
  • Review and update risk assessments; ensure safe systems of work are documented and understood
  • Investigate accidents and near misses thoroughly, implementing corrective actions
  • Champion lean/CI projects to reduce waste, improve throughput and raise quality
  • Analyse KPIs and production data (including AI-supported analysis) to identify trends and opportunities
  • Partner with Maintenance to improve reliability and equipment performance
  • Work closely with Assembly, Planning, Production Admin, Maintenance, Quality and Transport
  • Provide clear updates to senior management on performance, risks and resourcing needs li>
  • Support cross-functional improvement projects across the site

What we’re looking for

  • Strong CNC manufacturing background (ideally within a fast-paced production environment)
  • Proven people manager (leading teams through performance, change, and development)
  • Tech-focused, data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Comfortable using AI tools to analyse data and support operational improvement
  • Demonstrable continuous improvement / lean experience (5S, RCA, KPI management, SQCDP)
  • Strong communicator with the credibility to lead from the front
