Back End .Net Developer – Bristol, UK (Onsite)
We are looking for a Backend Software Developer to help design, develop and maintain the next generation of our flagship products. You’ll play a key role in building scalable backend services, APIs and cloud‑based applications while supporting and enhancing our existing software platform. This role is primarily focused on backend development using C# and .NET with involvement in full stack development where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and developing scalable backend services and APIs using C#
- Developing clean, maintainable and well‑tested code following SOLID principles and industry best practices
- Designing and optimising relational database structures and queries
- Building integrations with third‑party systems and services using REST APIs and JSON/XML
- Supporting cloud‑hosted applications and contributing to performance, reliability and scalability improvements
- Collaborating with front end developers to deliver complete end‑to‑end solutions
- Participating in code reviews and helping establish engineering best practices
- Troubleshooting, debugging and resolving production issues
- Contributing to architectural discussions and continuous improvement of development processes
- Continuously learning new technologies and sharing knowledge with the wider team
Required Qualifications
- Commercial experience with C# and .NET / .NET Framework
- Strong understanding of object‑oriented programming, SOLID principles and software design patterns
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
- Strong SQL skills with experience of MySQL or similar relational databases
- Experience integrating with external systems using JSON and XML
- Experience writing automated unit tests (xUnit, NUnit, MSTest or similar)
- Understanding of software architecture and development best practices
- Experience using Git for source control
- Designing and developing secure applications by applying secure coding principles, OWASP guidance and security best practices
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently or within a collaborative team
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high‑quality solutions to agreed deadlines
- Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and experience with a modern front‑end framework such as Vue to support full‑stack collaboration
- Jira or similar Agile project management tools
- CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
- Experience developing and deploying applications on AWS, including services such as ECS, EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, IAM and API Gateway
