Back End .Net Developer – Bristol, UK (Onsite)

We are looking for a Backend Software Developer to help design, develop and maintain the next generation of our flagship products. You’ll play a key role in building scalable backend services, APIs and cloud‑based applications while supporting and enhancing our existing software platform. This role is primarily focused on backend development using C# and .NET with involvement in full stack development where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing scalable backend services and APIs using C#
  • Developing clean, maintainable and well‑tested code following SOLID principles and industry best practices
  • Designing and optimising relational database structures and queries
  • Building integrations with third‑party systems and services using REST APIs and JSON/XML
  • Supporting cloud‑hosted applications and contributing to performance, reliability and scalability improvements
  • Collaborating with front end developers to deliver complete end‑to‑end solutions
  • Participating in code reviews and helping establish engineering best practices
  • Troubleshooting, debugging and resolving production issues
  • Contributing to architectural discussions and continuous improvement of development processes
  • Continuously learning new technologies and sharing knowledge with the wider team

Required Qualifications

  • Commercial experience with C# and .NET / .NET Framework
  • Strong understanding of object‑oriented programming, SOLID principles and software design patterns
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
  • Strong SQL skills with experience of MySQL or similar relational databases
  • Experience integrating with external systems using JSON and XML
  • Experience writing automated unit tests (xUnit, NUnit, MSTest or similar)
  • Understanding of software architecture and development best practices
  • Experience using Git for source control
  • Designing and developing secure applications by applying secure coding principles, OWASP guidance and security best practices
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently or within a collaborative team
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high‑quality solutions to agreed deadlines
  • Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and experience with a modern front‑end framework such as Vue to support full‑stack collaboration
  • Jira or similar Agile project management tools
  • CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
  • Experience developing and deploying applications on AWS, including services such as ECS, EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, IAM and API Gateway
