Job Overview

This role involves supporting and contributing to practice-based research and clinical audit within cardiac rehabilitation, participating in current projects and initiating new work where appropriate. The position includes providing supervision and management support to junior and rotational staff, providing expert advice and consultancy to patients, carers and healthcare professionals on medicines use within cardiology, collaborating with external healthcare providers and specialist centres, supporting training and development of pharmacy staff, and undertaking prescribing responsibilities as an independent prescriber in line with the Trust’s Universal Scope of Practice.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support and contribute to practice-based research and clinical audit within cardiac rehabilitation, participating in current projects and initiating new work where appropriate.
  2. Provide supervision and management support to junior and rotational staff within the area, including coaching, competency development, and contribution to appraisal and performance processes as required.
  3. Provide expert advice and consultancy to patients, carers and healthcare professionals on medicines use within cardiology.
  4. Work collaboratively with external healthcare providers and specialist centres, supporting hub/spoke or regional pathways where applicable for cardiac rehabilitation.
  5. Support the training, development and supervision of pharmacy staff and learners within the service, acting as tutor/mentor/assessor/Designated Prescribing Practitioner where appropriate and contributing to competency-based development.
  6. To undertake prescribing responsibilities as an independent prescriber in line with the Trust’s Universal Scope of Practice for Pharmacist Independent Prescribing, Standard Operating Procedures, and Clinical Guidelines, or within a defined specialist prescribing scope formally approved through the Medicines Policy and Practice Committee, ensuring safe and effective prescribing practice at all times.

Requirements

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
