Overview
We are looking for a dynamic and forward‑thinking pharmacist with experience in Neurology to join our senior pharmacy team. You will work as part of the neurosciences pharmacy team to provide pharmacy services to The Walton Centre, a specialist Trust that delivers tertiary neurology, neurosurgery, spinal and pain management services.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues in other Trusts to standardise medicines management services and improve quality, safety, productivity and efficiency.
- Develop, update and implement policies, clinical guidelines and quality improvement projects related to medicines within the Trust.
- Represent and support WCFT at Cheshire and Mersey Area Prescribing Group subgroups, the North Wales Medicines Management Group and the Walton Centre Drugs and Therapeutics Committee.
- Participate in the pharmacist prescribing service for patients newly admitted for elective neurosurgery.
- Assist the WCFT Operational and Clinical Lead Pharmacist in developing pharmacy services and medicines management at The Walton Centre.
- Assist in leading and managing the neurosciences pharmacy team.
- Act as the primary point of contact for senior staff and departments across WCFT for advice on medicines‑related issues.
- Review compliance with the CQC and other national standards at WCFT.
- Provide medicines‑related training for other Trust staff.
- Lead and provide pharmaceutical expertise in the delivery and development of services to the neuroscience directorates, building an exemplary clinical service.
- Identify the clinical and economic impact of medicine use, develop and implement clinical guidelines, monitor drug expenditure and help staff meet clinical and financial targets.
Qualifications
- Current or imminent registration as a prescriber.
- Experience in neurology pharmacy and in a tertiary centre is desirable.
- Relevant experience in medicines management or governance roles.
