GENERAL SUMMARY

This multi-function role combines an Industrial / Manufacturing Engineer and a Production Engineer. It involves planning and creating systematic processes for the manufacture of components based on customer requirements and standard times to ensure an efficient method of manufacture. Responsibilities include creating cost and method plans, providing operational support on new machinery, tooling, programs, detailed SOPs, routings, and alleviating shop floor problems.

Continuous improvement of manufacturing methods, driving productivity and efficiency, and CNC programming—creating, editing, and updating programs, supporting CNC machines and operators, and developing jigs and fixtures—are key aspects of the role.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Creation of new and modification of CNC programs using Fanuc programming language.
  • Preparing/updating manufacturer documentation, tooling, and setup details required for product manufacture.
  • Developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Creating and maintaining lean manufacturing processes (CNC and manual) that meet quality and time‑to‑market targets.
  • Daily/weekly support for manufacturing processes, program creation, issue resolution, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Providing ongoing support to Production Operators and processes to ensure economic and quality manufacturing.
  • Working with suppliers on manufacturing‑related matters.
  • Facilitating continuous improvement activities, analyzing production processes, and applying problem‑solving methodology to identify improvement areas.
  • Seeking new ways to improve production efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Creating process specifications and material purchase specifications.
  • Leading and owning control of manufacturing consumables, including tooling, lubrication, etc.
  • Leading and owning machine maintenance in collaboration with Operations and Planning to keep costs down and production unaffected.
  • Aiding in the production of routings (processes) covering all streams (Assembly, Machining, Test) per project and customer requirements, including quality plans.
  • Discussing and creating processes for rectification or additional work on assemblies and parts (including purchased finished items) due to production changes.
  • Maintaining and updating routings, production orders, and other shop‑floor documents as required.
  • Implementing engineering changes to routings as necessary.
  • Planning additional work routing cards as requested.
  • Interpreting routings for operators and management on the shop floor.
  • Working in accordance with Departmental Interface Procedures efficiently.
  • Providing ongoing support and training to personnel related to manufacture.
  • Staying available for further training when required.
  • Working in other areas when required.
  • Collaborating with managers to implement company policies and goals.
  • Ensuring health, safety, and environmental guidelines are followed.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • HNC/HND in Mechanical/Production Engineering or equivalent experience as a manufacturing/industrial engineer with a proven track record in a similar role.
  • Understanding and experience of lean manufacturing techniques and detailed knowledge of CNC and manual machining processes in milling and turning.
  • Team player with high energy and commitment required for leading and implementing change.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with SAP or other MRP systems for producing routings; Excel and Word proficiency is beneficial.
