Job Description
As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will play a key role within the Operations team at Datum, supporting the specification, delivery, and ongoing management of advanced monitoring systems across a diverse portfolio of high‑profile infrastructure projects.
This role offers exposure to a broad range of hardware and software technologies from multiple suppliers, with a strong focus on integrating these into robust, end‑to‑end monitoring solutions. You will progressively develop hands‑on expertise in designing, building, and troubleshooting systems both in the laboratory and on live project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design, specification, and deployment of monitoring systems across multiple projects
- Integrate hardware and software from various suppliers into cohesive system architectures
- Assist with the build, configuration, and commissioning of systems in both lab and field environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and system‑level issues to ensure reliable performance
- Support the maintenance and optimisation of online data platforms, ensuring accurate and timely data delivery to clients
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of firmware and system interfaces linking on‑site hardware to cloud‑based systems
- Collaborate closely with site teams, project managers, and commercial teams to deliver solutions across the full project lifecycle
Qualifications
- Background or experience in electrical systems engineering (academic or industry‑based)
- Basic programming capability (e.g. scripting or embedded systems knowledge) is advantageous
- A structured and analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities
- Comfortable working both hands‑on in the field and analytically in a technical environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
