Overview

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Hands on Workshop Manager to join a well-established sheet metal and fabrication business based just outside of Letchworth. Specialising in high-quality fabricated and sheet metal solutions, the company supports a diverse customer base across a variety of engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the day-to-day running of the sheet metal and fabrication workshop
• Managing fabrication staff and coordinating workloads to meet production deadlines
• Ensuring manufacturing processes are completed efficiently and to required quality standards
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Driving health & safety compliance and continuous improvement throughout the workshop

Skills & Experience Required as a Workshop Manager

• Previous experience managing teams within a sheet metal or fabrication environment
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes including welding, forming, and assembly
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
• Excellent organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Hands‑on approach with the ability to prioritise multiple projects effectively
