A fantastic opportunity for a degree educated Mechanical Engineer is on offer in the East Sussex area for a talented Production Engineer. With at least five years’ experience as a Product Engineer and an interest in science, this role offers career progression opportunities with our innovative company.
Primary Objectives
The main purpose of this role will be:
- Assist in the NPI process and oversee manufacturing processes
- Carry out root cause analysis and maintain the 8D/RMA system
- Ensure best practice and health and safety codes are followed
- Identify problems in the production line, troubleshoot manufacturing issues and complete various administrative tasks
Accountabilities
- Lead and carry out 8D/RMA activities while maintaining the process within Engineering
- Develop operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities
- Implement cost‑reduction initiatives while maintaining high quality standards
- Monitor production processes, ensuring quality work is done safely and efficiently
- Diagnose problems in the production line, provide recommendations and training to eliminate any issues
- Liaise with other engineers to develop plans that improve production, costs, and labour content
- Establish safety procedures and protocols that protect workers and minimise the carbon footprint
- Keep abreast of advancements in engineering and production, then share knowledge with co‑workers
- Identify, document, and report unsafe practices
- Check drawings, routes & new BOM items for completeness and production readiness

- Schedule meetings with relevant departments and stakeholders
- Analyse all facets of production and make recommendations for improvement
- Identify and obtain any materials and equipment required for the above
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience with CAD software
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Proven experience in the engineering field

- A hands‑on doer with the skills to assemble small and large complex assemblies; reasonable fitness and dexterity required
- Experience of Microsoft Dynamics and an HNC/D in Mechanical and Production Engineering or a Mechanical Engineering Degree
