This varied role involves a variety of tasks and responsibilities working closely with the Practice Manager. We are a friendly busy GP practice in Chingford looking for a PART-TIME Administrator/ GP Receptionist to join our team for 18 hours a week across three days a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

Applicant MUST have Emis Web software experience.

Be able to work in a fast-paced environment independently, accurately and reliably.

In addition, applicants must be willing to work flexibly to cover annual leave during the week, as and when required.

The ideal candidate must live local to the practice, reliable, committed to the role, have excellent communication and attention to detail whilst maintaining confidentiality and accuracy, have good computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise a busy workload.

In this role you will be working closely with the practice manager.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide high-quality administrative and reception support within a busy GP practice and play a key role in the smooth day-to-day running of the service. Working closely with the Practice Manager and multidisciplinary team, responsibilities will include processing referrals and correspondence, screening and coding clinical documents, managing document workflows, maintaining accurate patient records, and liaising with hospitals, clinicians and other healthcare professionals.

As a Senior Administrator, the post holder will support and mentor reception staff, assist with staff induction and training, create and manage system access for new clinicians and employees, and monitor administrative processes to ensure efficiency and compliance. The role includes maintaining CQC logs, audits and documentation to ensure the practice remains inspection-ready and compliant with NHS policies and procedures.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication, organisational and customer service skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure. Flexibility is essential, as reception cover may be required during annual leave or staff absence. Duties include managing appointments, handling patient enquiries in person, by telephone and online, and delivering a professional, patient-centred service at all times.

EMIS experience is essential. Candidates living within a reasonable commuting distance of the practice are preferred.
