Job Overview
WSP is seeking a qualified Surveyor to lead projects from Edinburgh or Glasgow within the Surveying Services (UK) team. The role involves managing own projects, conducting below‑ground utility and drainage surveys, ensuring quality standards, and mentoring junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Based at WSP’s Edinburgh or Glasgow offices.
- Manage your own projects within a UK‑wide team of Topographical, Measured Building & Buried Services Surveyors and UAV Pilots.
- Carry out below‑ground utility and drainage surveys.
- Ensure that standards are being followed on site and in the office (quality assurance).
- Mentor junior team members.
Qualifications
- QCF Level 3 and Level 5, in Utility Mapping and Surveying or equivalent.
- Proven experience of carrying out fieldwork for below‑ground utility surveys and drainage surveys using Electromagnetic and GPR techniques.
- Experience with PAS128 standards, collecting and post‑processing GPR data.
- Ability to produce 2D & 3D CAD drawings and other survey reports.
- Experience using total stations and GNSS.
- Experience in topographical surveys would be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for public and team members and ability to work in all weather conditions, including at night.
- Undertake own CPD.
- Skills to check and critically evaluate the work of others (drawings, calculations, reports).
- Active contribution to technical excellence and innovation across the survey team.
- Full UK driving licence (travel required).
