We are recruiting for a Project Director to join our risk team at our London, Manchester, Birmingham, or Bristol offices.

As a Project Director, you will lead the risk management capability for AECOM’s major infrastructure projects across a broad range of sectors.

The role involves engaging with senior stakeholders and customers, working closely with internal, client and sub‑contractor staff to understand risk exposure, implement governance and support decision making.

You will manage a team of risk consultants, supporting various capital projects across the UK and opportunities to support global projects.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the risk management lead for high‑value projects and programmes
  • Engage with project teams to ensure effective implementation of risk management
  • Provide risk management input to bids and proposals to secure new business
  • Perform risk assurance checks to ensure quality of project and programme risk management
  • Communicate key project and programme risk management data to senior leaders
  • Coach and mentor staff in risk management best practice
  • Facilitate identification, assessment and prioritisation of risks
  • Develop robust Risk Registers, Risk Management Plans, and Risk Mitigation Plans
  • Conduct Quantitative Risk Analysis using Monte‑Carlo techniques to establish contingency levels
  • Design and implement risk management frameworks for projects and programmes
  • Support cost, scheduling, project controls and change management teams where appropriate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university or a risk management qualification (MOR, APM Risk, IRM)
  • Proven experience in a multi‑discipline project environment
  • Proficient with Industry Risk Management tools (ARM, Xactium, RiskHive, Predict, etc.)
  • Experience conducting Quantitative Risk Analysis using Safran, Primavera Risk Analyser, @risk
  • Competency in implementing Risk Management processes aligned with ISO31000, Institute of Risk Management or APMP
  • Management experience with a team of risk professionals
  • Willingness to travel and work in different sectors
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management
  • Working knowledge of current project management methodologies and tools
