People Operations Manager (12-month fixed term)

De Montfort University (DMU) is seeking an experienced People Operations Manager to lead the delivery of high‑quality HR operational services during a 12‑month fixed‑term period.

This is a key role within People Services, providing leadership across the People Support Hub and the specialist operational People functions. We are looking for a candidate who can hit the ground running, ensuring continuity of service, strengthening compliance, and delivering an excellent employee experience.

About The Role

You will lead a busy, customer‑focused HR operations service, ensuring efficient and compliant delivery across the employee lifecycle. A strong focus of the role is maintaining robust processes and controls across areas such as UKVI, DBS, right‑to‑work checks, contracts and workforce data.

You will also play a key role in improving service delivery, streamlining processes, identifying risks and enhancing the experience for both employees and managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the People Support Hub and operational People Operations services
  • Ensure compliance across all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including UKVI, DBS and relevant employment law aspects
  • Deliver a high‑volume, customer‑focused HR service aligned to service level agreements
  • Provide hands‑on leadership to ensure continuity and performance during a period of change
  • Drive improvements to systems, processes and service delivery
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and act as a trusted operational partner
  • Deputise for the Head of People Services Operations

About You

You will be an experienced HR operations professional with a strong track record of delivering high‑quality, compliant services in a complex organisation.

  • Strong knowledge of UKVI, DBS and employment compliance requirements
  • Experience of working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume service environment
