The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Technician to join Primary Care Pharmacy Services in West Dunbartonshire HSCP as a Pharmacy Technician Team Leader. As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Pharmacotherapy Service across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, leading on service development, operational planning, and the education and development of prescribing support pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers. Working closely with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to improving medicines management and promoting high‑quality, evidence‑based patient care across GP practices, care homes and other community settings.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • This is a full‑time permanent post working 36 hours per week
  • These hours will be worked Monday to Friday
  • You will be based at Vale Centre for Health and Care, Main Street Alexandria G83 0UE

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on service development, operational planning, and workforce development, supporting and supervising prescribing support pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, community pharmacies, care homes, social work, and the wider multidisciplinary team to promote the safe, effective and cost‑efficient use of medicines.
  • Support the implementation of evidence‑based prescribing, drive service improvements, provide leadership and operational support, and contribute to the delivery of high‑quality pharmacotherapy services across Primary Care.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications, and Experience Required

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Significant post‑qualification experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Broad understanding of pharmacy technical practice.
  • Management qualification, or substantial experience of managing staff and/or service delivery, including experience supervising junior staff.
  • Demonstrable leadership and people‑management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Ability to influence others and lead service improvement initiatives.
  • Experience of working within Primary Care is desirable.
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team is desirable.
  • SQA Work‑Based Assessor qualification, or evidence of working towards this qualification, is desirable.
