Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary special school in Middleton.
This specialist provision supports pupils aged 3–11 with a range of additional learning needs and is committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. The school places a strong emphasis on personalised learning, removing barriers to education and celebrating every success, no matter how big or small.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support for pupils both inside and outside the classroom. You will play an important role in helping children develop confidence, independence and key life skills while supporting their educational journey.
Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning activities.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
- Supporting pupils’ social, emotional and communication development.
- Helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual targets.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, families and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children, ideally within an SEN or educational setting.
- Willingness to support with personal care where necessary.
- A patient, empathetic and proactive approach.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to adapt to the varying needs of pupils.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
