Band 3 Clinical Support Worker – Beech AB (Internal)

Closing date: 21 July 2026

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, part‑time or full‑time.

An exciting opportunity to work on the Beech AB ward at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. The ward provides general medical and respiratory care and receives transfers from various units within and outside the trust.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 3 Clinical Support Worker you will provide high‑standard care, assist nursing staff with clinical duties, and receive training to progress your skills. You will also lead by example, supervise and support junior staff to maintain high standards of care.

Successful applicants should be highly motivated, have strong interpersonal skills, work well under pressure and thrive as part of a team. A keen desire to provide and maintain the highest standard of care is essential.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent competency evidence.
  • National Care Certificate or commitment to complete within 12 weeks of starting.
  • Numeracy and literacy level 2.
  • Relevant additional training for Clinical Support Workers.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Working experience in health or social care.
  • Experience of clinical observations, recording and escalating findings.
  • Knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision (including safeguarding and GDPR).
  • Understanding of NHS and social care policies, trust procedures and accurate documentation.
  • Experience working within the trust (desirable).

Skills and Aptitudes

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and active listening skills.
  • Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation abilities.
  • Basic IT skills for electronic patient records and trust systems.
  • Analytical thinking and judgement for patient‑service interactions.
  • Self‑initiative and proactive support for patient‑centred care.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. The cost of the DBS will be met by the successful candidates through salary deduction (standard and enhanced checks as applicable).
