Job overview

Provide a comprehensive secretarial service to the Consultant Psychiatrist and medical team, assisting them in achieving their objectives and liaising with relevant services. Deliver specialist clinical service for the Depression Research and Advice clinic (DRAC) and provide clinical cover for out‑patient care, Ketamine and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatments, and assist appointments for patients considered for clinical trials.

Main duties

  • Handle correspondence, book new patient appointments, manage diary and organise meetings.
  • Attend MDT weekly meetings and clinics administration.
  • Audio transcription and text processing of clinical letters, reports and other correspondence.
  • Act as focal point of contact, disseminate information, messages and enquiries to the medical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members, other health professionals and staff within the Trust, GP’s, Social Workers, Service Users, Carers and external agencies.

Person specification

Knowledge and experience

  • Significant admin/secretarial experience in health or equivalent environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and databases.
  • Experience working with people struggling with mental health or related problems.

Skills

  • Ability to audio‑type, work under pressure and independently or as part of a team.

Training and qualifications

  • English GCSE (level 4 or above) or equivalent.
  • AMSPAR Diploma, Medical Administration or Medical Terminology Qualification.
  • Experience using RIO system.
  • RSA II Typing/Text Processing qualification.
