Role Description

The Residential Care Worker Level 2 role is a full-time, on-site position based in Gainsborough. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing high-quality care and support to children, promoting their dignity, independence, and wellbeing, and assisting with daily living activities. The role involves building positive relationships, following care plans, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to a safe, supportive residential environment. The post holder will work closely with colleagues, families, and external professionals, follow safeguarding procedures, and adhere to relevant policies and regulations. The role also includes supervising staff, leading shifts, participating in team meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of care.

Qualifications

  • Experience in residential care or a similar care setting, with the ability to provide person‑centred support and promote independence.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trusting relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Good organisational and record‑keeping abilities, with attention to detail and adherence to care plans and safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, respond calmly to challenging situations, and follow health and safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Relevant care‑related qualification (e.g., QCF Level 3 in Residential care or equivalent) or willingness to work towards this.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to promoting residents’ rights, choices, and dignity.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, as required by the residential setting.
  • Basic IT skills to use electronic care records and communication systems; experience in local authority or public sector care services is an advantage.
