Overview of Role

Reporting to the Additional Learning Needs Support Coordinator (ALNSCo), the Care and Independence Support Worker will provide personal care and one-to-one support to students with a wide range of needs and disabilities. Using a person‑centred approach and in the least intrusive way, you will undertake tasks detailed in the students’ care and support plan whilst maintaining good communication and developing effective working relationships. You will assist students with medication, dressing, toileting, continence management, personal hygiene, food, and drink preparation, and support learning as a reader, scribe, or note‑taker when necessary. First Aid at Work, Manual Handling and Administering Medication qualifications are an advantage but not essential.

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 2 in Care
  • Experience in Manual Handling and providing high standards of care provision
  • Sound understanding of the principles of good care
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults
  • Strives to meet the highest standards in customer service
  • An effective communicator who is compassionate, patient and empathetic
  • Flexible and approachable with a positive attitude when under pressure

Welsh skills are desirable for this specific post. We are seeking candidates who can help us grow our bilingual provision and service.
