Engineering Technician
Location: Bedford
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30 (shift flexibility may be required)
Responsibilities
- Perform daily equipment checks and basic maintenance to ensure correct and safe test operation.
- Prepare samples for testing, including marking, board mounting, and preconditioning.
- Carry out reliability testing by unloading, testing, and reloading samples within required time limits.
- Conduct visual inspections of test samples using microscopes to identify defects.
- Design, build, and maintain test boards and fixtures required for testing activities.
- Edit and maintain test programs for STi ATE test systems.
- Record, update, and maintain test data in Excel and ensure proper file storage.
- Manage wafer/sample storage by logging incoming materials and tracking items removed.
- Support documentation and reporting of test results where required.
Qualifications and Skills
- 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including Maths and English (Science).
- Previous cleanroom experience is desirable.
- Basic understanding of Health and Safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Experience with soldering and building test fixtures is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive and reliable approach.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
