Craftsperson (Jointing)

Location: Merseyside

Salary: £34,040 – £42,550 per year plus benefits and career progression opportunities

Employment Type: Full Time / Permanent

Role

We are currently looking to recruit a Jointer to construct, maintain and repair the electrical distribution network. This role supports the network for an electric future and helps meet Net Zero goals across more than 100,000 km of network.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Ensure all site works are carried out safely, in accordance with company policy and safety rules.
  • Act as nominated person in charge of safety for the duration of works attended.
  • Perform cablehead changes, cablehead and substation fuse replacement, fault location, generator deployment/connection, jointing work, and issue/receipting appropriate safety documents.
  • Assist other trade groups as required.
  • Plan and carry out work safely, adhering to health and safety procedures, working proactively alone or as part of a team with a confident and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service for essential services 24/7/365.
  • Participate in a 1:6 standby rota (may vary).

What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of jointing, testing, and fault finding.
  • Preferred experience working within a utilities business.
  • Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with colleagues and customers on site.

Minimum Requirements

  • City and Guilds or NVQ equivalent, or equivalent experience (minimum).
  • Previously employed as an electrical cable jointer at LV, HV, or EHV levels (minimum).
  • Valid driving licence (minimum).
