Job Description
The Roses is a vibrant centre for art, entertainment, education and community activities for Tewkesbury and the wider region. You will work as part of a dedicated staff team to provide welcoming and efficient customer service. You will operate the Box Office effectively and accurately to promote the venue and its programme, to develop audiences and increase ticket sales.
Reporting to: Box Office Manager
Contract type: Zero Hours/Flexible
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Box Office Manager as the first point of contact with the public, in person and by telephone, projecting a positive and friendly image of The Roses and its programme to generate income for The Roses through sales, customer service and product knowledge.
- Operate the Box Office systems efficiently and accurately, including providing reports and data when required.
- Manage marketing material in the venue and keep the foyer/box office area tidy and informative.
- Have a sound knowledge of The Roses’ programme to provide accurate information to the public and increase ticket sales.
- Act as reception to welcome user groups, accept incoming deliveries, and distribute parcels and post.
- Assist with marketing tasks, data cleansing, data collating and research to ensure that Marketing and Box Office work cohesively as one department.
- Work shifts which fall within Box Office opening times. This includes daytime and evenings, weekends and bank holidays, school holidays and other public holidays.
- Operate in accordance with the Company’s employment, health & safety, diversity, safeguarding and other practices, policies and procedures.
- Undertake any other duties that are consistent with the purpose of the job or may be required.

Required Experience and Abilities
- Demonstrate excellent customer service.

- Excellent communication skills.
- Accurate numeracy and literacy skills and absolute attention to detail.
- Work well both in a team and individually.
- Keep calm and respond well to last‑minute changes and alterations.
- Willingness and cooperation to work flexible hours and additional hours as required.
- Competent computer skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within another customer‑facing role.
Terms
Hours: Flexible zero hours across daytime, evening and weekend shifts with the expectation of additional hours as required to cover sickness and holidays.
Salary: National Minimum Wage.
Holidays: 28 days holiday pro rata to be taken within the theatre financial year of 1st April – 31st March. Holidays not taken cannot be carried forward, unless at the discretion of the Theatre Director. Holidays to be agreed with the Box Office Manager and not to coincide with other box office staff unless authorised. Holidays are not permitted on allocated shifts on Christmas public holidays.
Probation: 3 months.
Notice period: 1 month.
