About Camden

At Camden, we’re building somewhere everyone can thrive. We’re making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit—driving radical social change so that nobody gets left behind.

We’re home to some of the most important conversations happening today, and we’re committed to creating a fairer future for all. At Camden, your ideas, your voice and your ambition will help shape meaningful change for our communities.

What You’ll Be Doing / How You’ll Be Involved

As a Social Worker in our Children Looked After (CLA) service, you’ll be part of an integrated, multidisciplinary team including our Virtual School, specialist health services and CAMHS provision. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

  • Manage a diverse caseload involving care planning, court work and supporting vulnerable adolescents
  • Undertake high‑quality assessments and develop effective care plans
  • Deliver creative interventions that promote positive outcomes for children in care
  • Work closely with partners across education, health and other services
  • Contribute to a learning culture within the team and support less experienced colleagues

You’ll play a key role in ensuring services meet the needs of Camden’s diverse community, while working within statutory frameworks and best practice guidelines.

All About You

We’re looking for a passionate and skilled social worker who is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people.

  • A recognised social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly the Children Act 1989 and frameworks for children in care
  • Experience managing complex cases, including care proceedings and court work
  • The ability to assess risk, develop and review care plans effectively
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
  • A good understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable children and families

You’ll also be a collaborative team player, confident in working across services and committed to continuous learning and development. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS. Please note Camden also offers the DBS update service.

What We Offer

At Camden, you’ll receive a host of benefits including:

  • Competitive Salary based on experience
  • Reimbursement of the cost of Social Work England Fees for all qualified Social Work staff
  • Payment of a travel allowance equivalent to the cost of a Zone 1 and 2 Travel card – currently £1,788
  • 27 days annual leave for new starters, rising to 31 days after 5 years
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Flexible working opportunities
  • Interest free loans
  • Access to our incredible staff networks
  • Career development and training
  • Wellbeing support and activities

Inclusion and Belonging

At Camden, we want every colleague to feel they belong and can thrive. We welcome applications from all parts of our community, and particularly encourage people from Black, Asian and Other Ethnic Heritage communities, LGBTQ+ people, disabled and neurodiverse people, survivors of domestic abuse, and those from lower socio‑economic backgrounds or with care experience. We know that different voices and perspectives make us stronger, and we are committed to providing the support, adjustments and flexibility people need to succeed.
