Clerical Officer – Emergency Department

Contract: Permanent (Part‑time 25 hrs, Mon‑Fri 6pm‑11pm, Term‑time only)
We’re looking for someone to join our reception and clerical team, ensuring the smooth running of our GP in ED Service within a busy Emergency Department. Provide a professional and compassionate service, supporting patients, families, and medical staff in critical moments.

- Educated to GCSE level or have equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in a public‑facing role with general office responsibilities.
- Enthusiastic, compassionate, and able to stay calm and professional in challenging situations.

Main duties
Reporting to the Operational Support Manager, your responsibilities include:
- Support the admin & clerical tasks to ensure the smooth running of the GP in ED service (Monday – Friday 6pm–11pm, Term‑time only).
- Provide a welcoming reception service for patients and visitors.
- Register patients and ensure accurate data entry onto NHS software/systems.
- Direct patients to appropriate areas and answer questions with excellent customer service.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold professionalism in challenging situations.

Qualifications and Training
- GCSE Maths and English

Experience
- Experience of general office duties.
- Previous experience of dealing with the general public in a workplace setting.
- Previous experience of clerical work in an Emergency Department or a healthcare environment.
