Full time – 37.5 hours per week.

Salary – £27,500 – £33,500 depending on experience & skills, plus Serco benefits.

Full UK driving licence must be held. Vehicle and tools provided.

Maintenance Operative – AASC, Birmingham

We work with Asylum Accommodation and Support Services to assist individuals through the asylum system, providing them with temporary accommodation. As the Maintenance Operative, you will be key to ensuring all requested repairs – reactive, proactive, or pre‑planned – are carried out to the required standard and within our SLA deadlines.

You will manage your own workflow and work within a team when necessary. You are responsible for the health & safety of yourself and all users of the property during and after works have been undertaken and completed. You will purchase and manage materials using a company account card from approved Serco suppliers only. Vehicles provided by the company will be inspected regularly and maintained in a professional and clean condition.

Flexible Working Pattern

  • Mon to Fri 7.5 hours per day between 08:00 and 18:00 to meet the operational needs of the business.

On‑Call Requirements & Out of Hours Working

  • There will be a requirement to undertake out of hours on‑call duties, working on a rota basis to ensure 24/7 emergency cover is provided as per our contractual responsibilities. This will be carried out once every 8–10 weeks for emergencies.

What You Need To Do The Job

You will need a willingness and ability to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK; a valid UK driver’s licence is essential. All offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office.
