Job Details
- Salary: £12.65 – £13.05 per hour
- Contract Type: Permanent, term time only
- Working Pattern: Monday – Friday 8.35 – 3.15 (½ hour lunch break)

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team at Birchwood Grove CP School. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our children, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Teaching Assistants should provide support to all pupils with whom they come into contact. In particular they will:
- Work with and supervise groups of pupils or individuals either within the classroom, outside, in other areas of the school or off site
- Report any concerns regarding child protection to the designated child protection officer
- Work with pupils with Special Educational Needs according to their specified needs
- Move and handle a pupil with cerebral palsy
- Support the pupil in undertaking exercises (as advised and guided by Occupational or Physiotherapy Services)
- Support the pupil when eating
- Support the teacher in adapting learning and the environment, to provide accessible activities and tasks across the curriculum
- Communicate with parents effectively
- Give appropriate support in lessons to enable full participation socially and academically
- Support 1:1 with over–learning of lesson content as necessary
- Support pupils with independence and daily living skills and by encouraging physical movement
- Assist with general classroom supervision
- Support pupils in the playground
- Accompany groups of pupils on off‑site activities and on school trips
- Undertake First Aider training, attend to sick children and deal with minor injuries
- Escort children to hospital or clinic in an emergency
- Maintain relevant records and assessments, informing the teacher of any concerns
- Liaise with the SENCO and keep her informed of progress and any concerns
- Attend meetings as appropriate, including the review and preparation of targets for individual pupils
