The Role:
Salary £25,989 to £28,142 pay award pending.
The Waste and Recycling Service is looking to appoint Refuse Loaders to join the team. Working across a range of waste streams (residual, recycling and green waste) you will be expected to safely operate a range of waste collection vehicles, continuously improve collection round efficiency and drive performance.
Working as part of a team, you will deliver waste collection services to householders across the borough. You will also promote and encourage environmentally responsible behaviour and help to improve participation in recycling activities to increase the borough’s recycling rate and reduce litter on our streets.
About You:
Refuse Loaders are the cornerstone of our operations. You will be professional, organised and meticulous, task focused, motivated to get the job done, follow instructions and work to strict deadlines. You must be happy to work in all weathers, with a high level of physical fitness, able to move heavy loads. As you will be working in the community, a high level of customer care combined with the ability to influence recycling behaviours is essential. You must be able to communicate with colleagues, team members and members of the public. Previous experience is desirable. A flexible approach to working hours (from 5:15 am) is essential as operations commence early in the morning and involve working on Bank Holidays.
This post is a designated customer facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English as per the person specification.
