Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to undertake the role of Dementia Support Worker on Ffynnon Ward A (Care of the Elderly ward) at Holywell Community Hospital.
Position: Band 3 Dementia Support Worker (Full time, 37.5 hours per week).
Main Responsibilities
Provide support and care for dementia patients during their hospital stay, demonstrating care and compassion, especially for those with delirium. Assist in developing the dementia support service, support patients and staff, maintain high clinical standards, and work autonomously and within a team in a demanding environment.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Good general education
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 4
Essential experience:
- Working with people with dementia in a clinical setting
- Positive attitude towards dementia care and those affected by dementia
Desirable experience:
- Experience supporting carers and families of people with dementia
Essential skills:
- Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a stressful environment
Desirable skills:
- Ability to undertake education and basic teaching of staff members, patients, and carers
Additional requirements:
- Fluency in Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
