Job Overview
St Michael’s CE Middle School is seeking a Lifeguard & PE Support Assistant. The role is part‑time, term‑time and combines swimming supervision with active support for Physical Education lessons.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of pupils during swimming lessons.
- Provide hands‑on assistance to PE teachers during class activities.
- Support the PE department by helping with the preparation and management of equipment and lesson resources.
- Maintain a positive and engaging environment for pupils during physical education.
Working Hours
10 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, on‑site during Term Time only, Monday to Friday. Working days are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with exact shift patterns to be discussed at interview. Approximate start date 1 September 2026.
Salary and Benefits
Pro‑rated salary of £6,042 – £6,336 per annum (Grade 6 pay award pending). Salary includes paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with government safeguarding guidelines.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Commitment to the temporary term until 31 May 2027, covering maternity leave.
- Reliable, proactive, energetic with a strong commitment to child welfare.
