Driver/Attendant (24 hours) – 12 month fixed term contract
Driver/Attendants ensure the safe transportation of vulnerable service users to and from schools, daycentres, colleges and other establishments. The role will require carrying out the Driver’s duties and, at other times, the Attendant duties.
About the role
You will be required to drive a vehicle (minibus) or carry out the attendant duties whilst transporting clients with varying needs including learning disabilities, social, physical, mental health and/or medical conditions. You will be expected to ensure that all wheelchairs are safely secured, that all safety equipment is in full working order and to report any incidents to the Assisted Travel Office.
You will ensure timely pick‑up and drop‑off of service users and liaise with the Assisted Travel Office, service users and their parents/carers, schools, colleges, day centres and any other relevant establishment, to ensure any changes to daily schedules or exchanges of information are clearly communicated.
Daily vehicle and tyre safety checks will be carried out and the vehicle logbook will be completed to ensure compliance with Wirral Council Policy and Procedures and national legislation. The vehicle must be kept in a clean and tidy condition, both inside and out at all times. You must be fully conversant with and respond to all health, safety & fire procedures.
Requirements
This post requires a DBS check. Candidates must be fully conversant with health, safety, and fire procedures and able to maintain accurate vehicle logs.
