Assistant Compliance and Enforcement Officer

The Planning and Infrastructure Service is seeking an enthusiastic professional to join its busy Planning Compliance and Enforcement Team.

Overview

The main purpose of the role is to support the delivery of an effective compliance and enforcement service addressing all types of unauthorised developments relating to the Planning Acts and to ensure that development is carried out in accordance with approved plans.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for proactively managing a caseload of compliance and enforcement investigations into reported breaches of planning control from receipt of an initial complaint through to appeals arising from enforcement action.

Good interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills are essential as is the ability to deliver high quality advice in a timely manner to a wide range of customers. You will also be extremely organised, able to take responsibility for your own work and at the same time contribute to the overall performance of the team.

Qualifications

Previous experience of providing planning advice or working within an investigation or enforcement role is preferred. The ability to gain a swift, working knowledge of relevant legislation, planning policy and guidance is required; support will be provided to develop into the role.

Location

Based at the Civic Offices in Basingstoke, within easy reach of London. Basingstoke is a fast‑paced, vibrant town in Hampshire with a rich heritage and many amenities.
