Football Fitness Academy (FFA) is a specialist Strength & Conditioning programme for young footballers aged 7-16, operating in Wokingham and Maidenhead. We work with players from grassroots through to academy level in small, capped groups with a maximum 4:1 player-to-coach ratio.
We are looking for a Head S&C Coach to lead our session delivery across Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. This is a sessional role with a clear development pathway as the programme grows; more sessions, more hours, and a central leadership role in an expanding coaching programme.
WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
You will not be running generic football drills. Every session is purpose-built around athletic development – explosive power, speed mechanics, plyometrics, strength, agility, delivered to groups of up to 8 players at a time. You will know every player by name, understand their goals, and build a coaching relationship that drives genuine results.
What You Will Do
Session Delivery
- Plan and lead S&C sessions for groups of up to 8 players aged 7-16
- Deliver across three weekly time slots with a consistent, high-quality methodology
- Adapt sessions in real time based on player ability, fatigue, and response
- Run warm-ups, main blocks, and cool-downs to FFA standards
- Deliver the FFA First Steps programme for players aged 4-6 alongside main sessions on Mondays
Player Development
- Know every player by name and understand their individual development goals
- Set individual challenges and ensure every player is appropriately pushed
- Conduct parent handover at session end – communicate progress and flag anything relevant
Standards & Safety
- Review the MEAP (Medical Emergency Action Plan) before every session
- Complete the risk assessment form before each session begins
- Arrive early – equipment set up before the first player walks on the pitch
- Manage the session register and report attendance
- Uphold FFA’s safeguarding, conduct, and professional standards at all times
What We Need From You
- Degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, Strength & Conditioning, or a related discipline
- FA coaching qualification (Level 1 or above) or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience working with young athletes
- Full UK driving licence – you will be required to drive to session venues
- Up-to-date DBS check (or willingness to obtain one immediately)
- FA Safeguarding in Football certificate (or willingness to obtain before first session)
- FA Emergency First Aid in Football (or willingness to obtain before first session)
Highly Desirable
- UKSCA accreditation or working towards it
- Previous experience in an S&C or athletic development coaching role
- Experience working with academy or semi-professional youth players
- Confident, high-energy delivery style that engages young players
Personal Qualities
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Player-centred approach – you coach the individual in front of you, not a generic plan
- Professional and well-presented – you represent FFA to parents from the moment you arrive
- Ambitious – you want to grow your coaching career and see FFA as the platform to do it
What We Offer
- £25-35/hour sessional rate depending on experience and qualifications
- Direct mentorship from a UKSCA-qualified coach with 10+ years of experience
- Growing session hours as FFA expands – new time slots opening in autumn 2026
- Exposure to academy-level players in a professional development environment
- Quarterly team building events – offsite
- A central leadership role as we build toward a multi-location programme
GROWTH PATHWAY
FFA is actively expanding – new sessions, First Steps for 4-6 year olds, and a partnership programme with a local football club. The right person will grow into the senior coaching role of an expanding organisation, not just fill a sessional vacancy. We are looking for someone who wants to build something, not just deliver sessions.
