About the role

A warm, community‑centred primary school on the outskirts of Peterborough is seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated SEND Hub from May half term. This full‑time role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to pupils with a range of additional needs, working closely with experienced staff to provide tailored support that helps every child feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support learning activities; Assist in delivering structured, engaging sessions tailored to individual needs
  • Provide targeted SEND support; Work 1:1 or with small groups to reinforce learning and build confidence
  • Prepare resources; Help create and organise materials that support personalised learning
  • Promote inclusion; Ensure pupils can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life
  • Encourage positive behaviour; Use consistent, supportive approaches aligned with school expectations
  • Support emotional wellbeing; Build trusting relationships and help pupils regulate emotions throughout the day
  • Contribute to a safe environment; Maintain a calm, structured and encouraging space for learning

Pre-requisites

  • Experience with children in a school, SEND setting, or similar environment
  • Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 TA) are helpful but not essential
  • Two recent references
  • A calm, caring and proactive approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Genuine enthusiasm for supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
  • Flexibility to adapt to a range of needs and situations
