Partnership Tutor (Academic Skills Support) x2 Ref: 43808 & 43809 (Fixed Term)

Location: Brighton, UK

Hours: Full-time or part-time up to a maximum of 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours).

Grade 7 starting at £38,784 to £46,049 per annum, pro rata if part time.

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract

About the role

We are seeking an exceptional, multi/bilingual professional to join the Business School as a Partnership Tutor, supporting the success of international student cohorts on the 3+1 pathways and strengthening key global partnerships, with a particular focus on the Chinese educational context.

You will work collaboratively with academic colleagues, professional services teams, and international partners, playing a vital role in enhancing student progression, continuation and graduate outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver workshops, 1‑2‑1 support and targeted interventions for international students.
  • Contribute to partnership development, reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between Sussex and partner institutions on curriculum and programme mapping alignment.
  • Support student transition, planning and progression.

Requirements

  • Postgraduate qualification.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English.
  • Deep knowledge of Chinese culture, education systems and student needs.
  • Experience supporting students in a university or comparable environment.
  • Completion of a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check – required for roles involving contact with children, vulnerable adults or positions of trust.
  • Work performed in the UK.

Eligibility and Sponsorship

This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. The assigned SOC code is 2329Other educational professionals not elsewhere classified. The going rate is £40,600. Eligibility for sponsorship will depend on the salary offered and whether a candidate can meet the point requirement or holds an existing Skilled Worker sponsorship which began before 4 April 2024.
