An opportunity has arisen to join a busy and forward‑thinking team within the Haematology Department as a Support Secretary Apprentice. This is a full‑time position, 37.5 hours, Monday‑Friday.

Main Duties
- Support the medical secretaries and the clinical team, providing cross‑cover during staff absences.
- Use Microsoft Office packages.
- Perform medical audio typing.
- Deal with patients and medical staff via telephone and in person.
- Make appointments internally and via the e‑RS system / Choose & Book.
- Assist with data entry on NHS IM&T systems and digital dictation systems.
As part of this role you will undertake a Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship. We currently accept applications only from candidates who have been resident in the UK for the last three years and who are not on a funded programme.
Qualifications
- Word processing: Qualified to RSA III/NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- ECDL or equivalent qualification.
- City and Guilds Certificate in Medical Terminology or equivalent.
- G2 Experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience working within tight time frames and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good numerical skills.
- Experience providing secretarial services in a hospital environment.
- Experience with NHS IM&T systems for data entry.
- Experience with digital dictation systems and medical audio typing.

- Ability to move and handle case notes 2‑5 kg+.
