Job Title: Youth Worker
Responsible to: Director of Operations
Location: Belfast Office (required to attend office 2 days per week)
Hours per week: 35 hours (reduced hours may be considered if preferred by candidate)
Salary: £27,252 p.a. (pro-rata)
Holidays:The leave entitlement is 20 days Annual Leave, plus 10 days Public Holidays (calculated pro-rata for part-time employees). The leave-year runs from 1st January to 31st December.
Contract:This post is funded until 31st March 2027 (with strong possibility of extension).
Probationary Period:6 months

Purpose of Post
To positively contribute to the coordination and delivery of youth projects.
Key Responsibilities
- To work as part of a team, designing, delivering, and coordinating training, activities and events.
- Promote youth participation and involvement in all organisational activities.
- Design and deliver activities that promote the message of positive community relations and emotional health and wellbeing.
- To create awareness of and signpost for services for young people on a range of youth issues including employability, drugs and alcohol abuse, mental health etc.
- To maximise and enhance youth participation and empowerment by utilising and developing electronic communications, social media platforms, networks, and other appropriate forums of benefit to the organisation and its beneficiaries.
- To identify a cohort of young peace champions, nurture their development through a variety of training schemes and empower them to become active champions for peace in their communities.
- Design and participate in regional initiatives, maintain organisational relationships, and work with other youth workers to enrich our project delivery.
- To support the SMT to maintain accurate administrative documents as requested.
- Contribute to the production of high-quality funding applications, income generation strategies and sponsorship submissions as directed by the CEO.
- Support the development and implementation of the BGC strategic plan 2025 2030and any other duties as occasionally required and directed by the CEO to facilitate the overall needs of the Organisation.
- Ensure that all activities are compliant with BGC policy and current legislation, and best practice is maintained.
Person Specification
Shortlisting Criteria
(i). Education:
- Hold a recognised qualification in community youth work or a related discipline.
Or
- Minimum 3 years experience of working in the field of youth work in a paid capacity.
(ii). Experience:
- Minimum of two years experience of coordinating youth work activities at local or regional level.
- Minimum of two years experience designing and delivering youth programmes to address need.
- Minimum of two years’ experience delivering and reporting against contracted outcomes and working to deadlines.
(iii). Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of ICT with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office packages and digital platforms.
- Proven track record of implementing and maintaining monitoring and evaluation processes and producing reports in a timely manner.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Motivated and committed to work as part of a team and contribute to the creation of a strong youth work infrastructure across Northern Ireland.
Other Requirements
- Ability to travel throughout Northern Ireland.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to meet organisational needs.
