Job Description:

The Opportunity

I’m currently working with a growing consultancy based just north of Birmingham that is looking to expand its Planning team due to a significant increase in project workload.

Having recently hired two Senior Planners, the business is now looking to bring on a Project Planner with around 1-3 years of planning experience who is looking to accelerate their career.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a close-knit consultancy where you’ll work directly alongside experienced Senior Planners, receiving day-to-day mentoring while gaining exposure to large, complex infrastructure programmes.

If you’re looking for an environment where you’ll be given responsibility, develop quickly and learn from experienced professionals, this is the ideal opportunity.

The Role

As a Project Planner, you will support the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects by producing and maintaining project programmes, working closely with Senior Planners, Project Managers and client teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining project programmes using Primavera P6.
  • Updating project schedules and tracking progress against key milestones.
  • Supporting project reporting and programme updates.
  • Assisting with critical path analysis and programme risk identification.
  • Working closely with Senior Planners to develop robust project schedules.
  • Collaborating with project teams and stakeholders to ensure programme accuracy.
  • Continuously developing your planning and project controls knowledge through hands-on mentoring.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Around 1-3 years’ experience in Project Planning or Project Controls.
  • A solid foundation using Primavera P6.
  • Experience creating, maintaining and updating project programmes.
  • An understanding of planning principles, scheduling and programme management.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive attitude and a genuine desire to learn and develop.

Industry Experience

Experience within water is not essential.

The projects you’ll be supporting are primarily within the water and infrastructure sectors, but candidates from backgrounds including:

  • Infrastructure
  • Construction
  • Rail
  • Highways
  • Energy
  • Nuclear
  • Utilities
  • Defence
  • Aviation
  • Manufacturing

Why Apply?

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Hybrid working.
  • Direct mentoring from experienced Senior Planners.
  • Exposure to major infrastructure programmes from day one.
  • Genuine career progression within a growing consultancy.
  • Opportunity to rapidly develop your Project Planning and Project Controls expertise.
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment where your development is a priority.

If you’re looking for a role where you’ll gain invaluable experience, work on exciting infrastructure projects and fast-track your career in Project Planning, I’d love to hear from you.
