Summary
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for supporting the design and delivery of mechanical engineering solutions across water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams, the role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle, from concept design through construction and commissioning, while providing opportunities for continued technical and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design:
- Produce mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Support the design of mechanical equipment and associated systems for water and wastewater projects.
- Ensure designs align with client requirements, engineering standards, and project specifications.
- Assist in the development of practical, efficient, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Project Delivery:
- Support projects from concept design through detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
- Collaborate with civil, electrical, process, and project engineering teams to deliver coordinated solutions.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input throughout project delivery.
- Assist with resolving technical queries during design and construction phases.
Documentation & Coordination:
- Prepare engineering reports, schedules, drawings, and design documentation.
- Review technical information and contribute to project planning activities.
- Support the management of engineering changes and design updates.
- Maintain accurate project records and technical documentation.
Continuous Development:
- Build technical knowledge through involvement in a variety of engineering projects.
- Develop an understanding of industry standards, regulations, and engineering best practice.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
- Seek opportunities for ongoing professional development and learning.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in a mechanical design or engineering role is beneficial.
- Exposure to water, utilities, process, infrastructure, or other industrial projects is advantageous but not essential.
Skills:
- Good technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and organisational abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Familiarity with engineering design software and Microsoft Office applications.
Other Requirements:
- A willingness to learn and develop within a supportive engineering environment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Working towards professional registration is welcomed but not essential.
