Energy Analyst | UK Power & Flexibility Markets
Location: UK-Based (London Preferred) | Hybrid/Remote
Salary: Fixed Term Contract (1 year) ~ £55,000 + Opportunity to Move into a Permanent Position
My client is looking for an experienced Energy Analyst to join their growing team, supporting the optimisation and commercial growth of flexibility portfolios across the UK energy market.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of battery energy storage (BESS), demand response, power markets, trading, and optimisation strategies, who enjoys combining analytical expertise with commercial decision‑making.
The Role
You will play a key role in analysing UK power and flexibility markets, developing valuation and optimisation models, and identifying revenue opportunities across flexibility assets. You’ll work closely with Commercial, Product, and Operations teams while also presenting insights and recommendations to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse UK power and flexibility markets, market design developments, and competitive dynamics to identify commercial opportunities and risks.
- Build, maintain, and enhance analytical and commercial models to assess the value and performance of flexibility assets, including:
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Demand Side Response (DSR)
- Distributed Generation
- Evaluate trading and optimisation strategies across:
- Wholesale markets
- Ancillary Services
- Identify and assess revenue stacking opportunities.
- Present market insights, valuation assessments, and modelling outputs to clients and internal stakeholders, providing clear commercial recommendations.
- Collaborate with Product, Commercial, and Operations teams to support optimisation strategies, product development, and business growth.
Your Profile
- Degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Energy Systems, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years’ experience within UK energy markets, ideally covering:
- Flexibility markets
- BESS
- Energy trading
- Asset optimisation
- Route-to-market strategies
- Strong understanding of:
- UK wholesale power markets
- Ancillary services
- Experience with energy market modelling, simulations, and optimisation frameworks.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to translate complex market data into actionable business recommendations.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including presenting to senior stakeholders and clients.
