Overview

You will report to the Technical & Building Manager and be responsible for the Maintenance Technician and casual maintenance staff. You will work alongside the wider technical and Back of House team. You will play a key role in ensuring our standards of presentation are exemplary, provide leadership to the maintenance team, and support day-to-day operations, safety, and compliance across the venue. This is predominantly a hands-on role with some office work, and may involve working around children or vulnerable people.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the Maintenance Technician and casual maintenance staff to deliver cohesive, efficient, and compliant day-to-day operations.
  • Assist the Technical & Building Manager in implementing and monitoring workplace safety and compliance across maintenance operations; ensure contractors are aware of ATG policies and procedures.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance across the venue, fixing and maintaining equipment and facilities; support preventive maintenance planning and execution.
  • Act as Duty Person and building keyholder; investigate alarm conditions during day shifts.
  • Efficiently manage and deliver planned and routine preventative maintenance across the building, plant, machinery, installations, and external areas.
  • Program and manage the Building Management System; source information and quotes for contractor work; coordinate with preferred contractors to ensure timely PPM work.
  • Maintain documentation for building services and ensure operational procedures meet current legislation, working practices, and ATG policies.
  • Ensure COSHH records are up to date and products are assessed and documented.
  • Organise plant rooms and workshops, adhere to company policies and procedures, and work within budget for your area of operation.

Qualifications

  • Proven hands-on maintenance experience across relevant trades (carpentry, plumbing, painting & decorating, etc.).
  • Experience in staff management and in maintenance/operation of building plant, machinery, equipment, and services; familiarity with service ticket/task management systems.
  • Experience in Health and Safety management in a busy work environment; experience in Fire Safety including weekly testing; Legionnaires’ compliance and water testing.
  • BMS experience for setting up schedules for plant; experience implementing safe systems of work and developing a safety culture.
  • Excellent written and oral communication; computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and related systems).
  • Ability to manage and implement change; flexible hours in exceptional circumstances.
  • Desirable: experience in leisure or hospitality facilities; IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent training; First Aid; Working at height; Manual handling; Portable appliance testing; experience writing Standard Operating Procedures, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments; Electrical, Plumbing, CSCS qualifications.

Additional Information

Part of the Customer Experience team under the Customer Experience Manager for some roles; for others, roles report to Theatre Directors or Building & Maintenance Managers as part of venue management. Salary and closing dates vary by location:

  • Alhambra Theatre, Bradford: £28,142.00 – £31,022.00 per annum; closing 31 July 2026.
  • Bradford Theatres (Deputy Box Office Manager): hourly pay £14.02; closing 25 July 2026.
  • London (Front of House opportunities): £27,500 per annum; closing 22 July 2026.
