Site Manager – Cabling (PCSM Required)
Location: Sheffield. Reporting to the Project Manager / Project Director.
Responsibilities
- Attend periodic project reviews (PRM) and update the Digital Briefcase in accordance with GBL.
- Maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries, etc.).
- Prepare internal and external reports and liaise with stakeholders.
- Initiate and enforce scope, information, and configuration management principles.
- Ensure reports provide relevant information to support informed, cost‑effective decisions.
- Ensure scope and package assignment aligns with team coordination.
- Understand and specify plant and equipment requirements.
- Apply technical information and drawings to delivery.
- Implement resource allocation plans (OBS) and raise appropriate requests.
- Set people to work and plan delivery to meet programme deadlines.
- Check competencies, elevate issues, upskill others, and empower teams to stop work when required.
- Coordinate with other project activities and internal functions.
- Deliver a quality product and highlight resource issues.
- Manage subcontractors, monitoring attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary to achieve contractual arrangements.
- Ensure procurement plans match overall project plans, ensuring materials and resources are available to meet deadlines.
- Follow targets and KPIs in line with project objectives, monitoring performance.
- Conduct assurance activities (audits) and take appropriate action on findings.
- Contribute to workshops covering continuous improvement principles.
- Ensure expenditure aligns with the budget and resources are used efficiently for cost control.
- Identify elements for cost recovery from others.
- Incorporate operational and commercial constraints into decision‑making.
- Analyse, appraise and implement CEs.
- Understand commercial impact and notify of commercial changes.
- Request plant and materials and quantify required quantities.
Qualifications – Essential
- PCSM qualification.
- Experience implementing safe systems of work.
- Experience managing risks and change processes.
- Good understanding of standard contract forms.
- Proficient in commercial/project management communications.
- Effective verbal and written communication at all organisational levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to develop relationships across the business and negotiate.
- Ability to work in high‑pressure situations with a flexible attitude.
- A record of a solutions‑based approach to problem solving.
- Clear communication of daily briefings and safety packs.
- Competent discussion of ideas and plans.
- Effective personal and social skills.
- Awareness and promotion of diversity and inclusion benefits.

Qualifications – Desirable
- Experience on a variety of project types.
- Proficiency with O365.
- Current driving licence.
- Holding CSCS and SSSTS or equivalent.
