Band 7 Head And Neck Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our Head and Neck and Thyroid CNS Teams in one of the country’s largest acute NHS Trusts. The post leads an existing CNS Team delivering ongoing patient support to people with Head and Neck cancer undergoing treatment, ensuring care that supports the best quality of life.

The post holder will be highly skilled with relevant oncological care experience, delivering clinically effective, efficient, high-quality care for people with complex specialist needs. The role focuses on delivering nurse-led clinics and oncological support. This is a trust role and the successful candidate will cover multiple sites.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide specialist cancer care advice and support to people affected by head and neck and thyroid cancers. This will be achieved through direct clinical practice, caseload management, leadership, education, research, audit, and professional activities. The aim is to maximise treatment and quality of life and to provide support and advice to families and carers.

Person Specification

Education

  • Post-registration qualification relevant to specialty
  • Recognised teaching or mentorship qualification
  • Advanced assessment skills

Experience

  • Substantial post-registration experience in head and neck and/or Oncology
  • Experience of research and audit
  • Proven evidence of improving the patient experience
  • Experience in teaching junior staff
