Overview

The Senior Product Cost Engineer position in Clevedon offers a salary of £52,000 per annum with a full-time, hybrid working pattern. This role focuses on driving cost reduction and value engineering improvements across advanced products and components. You will identify cost-saving opportunities, deliver design enhancements, and implement engineering changes while upholding safety, quality, and performance standards. The permanent role includes an up to 7.5% annual bonus, 8% employer pension contribution, life assurance, health cash plan, wellbeing programme, discounted gym memberships, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, free parking, and a subsidised canteen.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and deliver engineering changes that reduce product and component costs.
  • Lead value engineering initiatives across mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials.
  • Design, modify, and release engineering changes to improve product cost and manufacturability.
  • Validate alternative components through testing, trials, and analysis.
  • Work with Manufacturing and suppliers to successfully implement engineering changes.
  • Manage engineering risks while maintaining product reliability, quality, and compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement and best practice across engineering and manufacturing teams.

About You

  • Experienced Product Cost, Value Engineering, or Mechanical Design Engineer with a track record of practical engineering improvements.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience delivering engineering design changes within a manufacturing or product development environment.
  • Experience implementing value engineering or cost reduction projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical components; experience producing CAD models, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances, and supplier capabilities.
  • Experience validating engineering changes through testing and trials.
  • Strong understanding of engineering risk, quality, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to work effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and suppliers.

Location

This is a hybrid role based in Clevedon, North Somerset, working closely with engineering teams and suppliers to deliver cost reduction and product improvement initiatives.
